It's Monday - I'm Reading and Wondering

Sheila over at Book Journey has an incentive for networking so go over and have fun while adding to your 2014 Wishlist.

I am currently reading - I am finding it a bit difficult to get engaged so far and wondering why, this is my genre of choosing....

Reviewed Prequel, looking forward to Little Mercies, Heather Gudenkauf is a great author.

I watched The Book Thief and Catching Fire - I think book adaptations are improving, what do you think, I loved them both. And I haven't read the books.  I have had Book Thief on my TBR list for a few years and I wasn't a fan of Hunger Games  but enjoyed the movie, but Catching Fire made me say maybe I should read it also.  I am wondering if this is the way to go, I used to always read a book first but if to long on TBR list I wonder if it will help with getting to the book sooner........

  1. Heather Gudenkauf and JT Ellison are two go-to authors for me. I did read Defending Jacob last year. So many bloggers sing its praises that I wondered why I didn't just love it. I did like it, but it wasn't a favorite of mine.

  2. I read Defending Jacob because it was compared to Gone Girl. Well, not so much. But I did like the book, and found the twists and turns and the ambiguity to be good. Hope you end up enjoying to too!

    1. I wasn't a Gone Girl fan so that won't help me, lol. I do hope it gets better in Part 2.

  3. I still have The Book Thief and Catching Fire DVDs to watch. I've read Catching Fire but not The Book Thief. I agree that the movies are sticking more closely to the story - the Harry Potter effect. Thanks for visiting my blog. Have a great week!

  4. I have The Book Thief and Catching Fire on my Netflix list. I read/loved the Hunger Game Series. I think with that, the books are better. I didn't really feel like reading The Book Thief, but I'm looking forward to the movie.

  8. Stick with Defending Jacob, it is a character driven book, with a twisty ending! I haven't seen The Book Thief yet, maybe this weekend. I enjoyed Catching Fire. Have a great week.

  9. I thought Defending Jacob was just okay - especially after all the hype around it. I like Heather Gudenkauf. I read These Things Hidden and The Weight of Silence. Thanks for sharing these titles!

  10. I'm in a facebook group for book lovers, and one of the members was just talking about how much she loved Defending Jacob...but she did say she had a problem with the beginning of the book and some of the writing choices. Anyway, maybe persevere?

  11. I really like Heather Gudenkauf, I've got Little Mercies coming up soon to review. I loved The Book Thief movie but haven't read the book and Catching Fire was a great adaptation, up there with the book! Mockingjay was a let down for me, so I'll be interested to see what they do with the movie.
Have a great week and happy reading :)

  13. I watched The Book Thief last week, too, and enjoyed it. I haven't read the book, so I can't compare. Maybe that's a good thing!

Your comment got dumped in my spam file, but I rescued it -- that should help keep that from happening again on my blog and others who use the same filter.

    Have a good week!

  14. I did like Defending Jacob, except now I don't remember much about it... but it has more to do with my failing memory than anything...
