My First Book for the Year

Sheila over at Book Journey has a personal book tradition, picking her 1st book of the year to read.  She has invited all of us again to join her and share our choices, what a great collage of bloggers and first books she has up.  Check it out

Happy New Year

I didn't know what to choose this year.  I received it for Christmas, opened it last night and was surprised it is a story of  poems.  Last year I didn't read any poetry and it is my simple pleasure, so I thought a good choice, plus it is a real book, not on Kindle, wow and published on my birthday.  I read 99% on my Kindle, so another great start, a little treat.

And my choice is The sun and her flowers by Rupi Kaur

Published - October 3, 2017

Book Summary

Divided into five chapters and illustrated by Kaur, the sun and her flowers is a journey of wilting, falling, rooting, rising, and blooming. A celebration of love in all its forms.
this is the recipe of life
said my mother
as she held me in her arms as i wept
think of those flowers you plant
in the garden each year
they will teach you
that people too
must wilt
in order to bloom

Sheila, if you see this, my comments do not show on your blog and I think my emails go to your junk folder.
