  2. I wasn't a fan either. Pretties was even worse for me, I couldn't stand the way they talked.

  3. Both The Uglies and A Widow's Season were on my wish list at Paperback Swap and they just got granted last night! Sorry to hear you don't love The Uglies ... but I think that happens when there is so much hype about a book sometimes.

  8. I feel the same way about Beautiful Creatures! I can't seem to get into the story. I keep putting it down and reading something else.

  9. I started the Uglies but ended up selling it about 1/3 through. It was my only copy at my used bookstore at the time, haha. I never did pick it back up, but probably will at some point. I loved the idea but the characters didn't really grab me. I'll be curious to see what you think once you're done.

  10. I'm very much a mood reader also -- I change my mind a lot :-) I haven't tried Uglies but didn't think it sounded like a book I wanted to try, at least not right now.

  11. Sorry Uglies isn't really working for you! I know I liked it a few years back, but books definitely speak differently to different people. Hope you feel in the mood to read the rest! :)

  13. I have heard so many great things about Scott Westerfield's series, but I've never been in the mood to pick it up. You're a moody reader...guess I am a moody book shopper...lol.

  15. I liked the first Uglies book, but it got worse for me from then on. My favourite Scott Westerfield book is Peeps- that one was way better than the whole Uglies series.

    Have a good week!

  16. I wasn't crazy about it either, but I'm not a big fan of dystopian novels. I only read it because one of my groups chose it as a monthly read. Most of them loved it, so I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who wasn't in love with it!
