Monday - What are you reading?

Book Date now hosts It's Monday What Are Your Reading?  The meme that we use to share what we read this past week and what our plans are for the upcoming week.  It's a great way to see what others are reading and add to your own To Be Read List.

I just completed Missing Pieces, unsure how I feel about it, review will be up tomorrow for release date.

I really enjoyed this one.  If you are a Grey's Anatomy and specifically Christina Yang fan, I highly recommend.  A fun, laugh out loud read.

I have no idea what is next.

My daughter is 9 years old today.  She is beautiful, inside and out, can't believe I have a 9 year old, wow.  We woke a little earlier so I can make her favourite breakfast, waffles and bacon and we are going to dinner tonight to celebrate.  I probably will not start a book tonight so that gives me a little more time to decide.

The next 2 Book club choices are:  Goldfinch - which I decided I will not be reading.  771 pages is past my limit rule, I will not do that to myself.  This is the other, have you read it?

Have a great week.

  1. Happy birthday to your daughter! Hope she has a fantastic day. Sounds like its off to a good start :)

I am hoping to read Missing Pieces eventually. Most of the reviews I've read so far seem to think it isn't the author's best work.

I may have to read Goldfinch for my book group later this year and I am dreading it. I have heard good things about The Boys in the Boat but haven't read it.

    1. Missing Pieces is still a great read but not her best.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with the thought on Goldfinich, I am happy with my decision not to read though.

I'm going to go for The Boys in the Boat.

My daughter had a really great day, thanks Christina

  2. Good I will choose to listen to Yes on audio at some point - while not a huge Christina Yang fan, I am not a disliker of her either. Love laugh out loud.

    1. I hear the audio is good also especially as Shonda does it herself. I am now a fan of hers, it definitely is laugh out loud worthy.

  3. Happy birthday to your daughter! I remember a few years ago when you mentioned your little girl, and she was just starting school, wow, time flies!
Glad you are back blogging and talking about books. I wouldn't read such a long book either, unless it was one I chose specifically and knew ahead of time it would pull me in. But not for a book club. I've heard of, but not read, the other title, historical nonfiction.
I love Heather Gudenkauf but everyone seems to be saying this is not her best work, oh well. Have a good week, Marce!

    1. I had to look at my intro on my blog Rita and update it, it was saying she is 7, funny. She had a great day and night.

Your thought on long books is exactly how I feel, if I am going to read a book over 500 it is going to be my choice.

I need to review Heather G's book, it was okay, not as good as her others.

  4. Ah, happy birthday to your daughter - I hope she has a wonderful birthday! It sounds like it's going to be full of yummy food - mum points to you for getting up early to make her favourite breakfast.

Oh yes, I'd be giving The Goldfinch a miss too with that page count. I hope you enjoy your upcoming books!

  5. Happy Birthday to your girl! 9 years old is a great age. And think of all the 'fun' you have to come. I'm being silly - I really did have fun with my girl when she was between 9 and 18. We didn't have a lot of the usual mom/daughter issues. And she's been grown up a long time, but she's still my sweet girl - even at 33.

So, I'm interested in what you thought about MISSING PIECES. Some seem to love it. You've read other books by this author, right? Which one is your favorite of her books?

    1. My daughter had a great birthday, she was full of smiles all day and woke up very tired this morning :-) I am working on my review. My favourites by Heather G are Weight of Silence and Little Lies.

  8. Happy ninth birthday to your daughter! My youngest grandson is thirteen, and I can't believe that happened either. The two oldest grandsons will be twenty-one in June! I guess that means I'm older than I think...lol.

I seem to be a fan of the Shonda Rimes shows (Grey's Anatomy, How to Get Away with Murder), so maybe I should read this one. Thanks!

Thanks for visiting my blog, and have a great week.

    1. Shonda's book gives you a little about her and you understand her writing style so much more, makes it personal. I really enjoyed it.
