It's Monday - What are you reading?

Book Date now hosts It's Monday What Are Your Reading?  The meme that we use to share what we read this past week and what our plans are for the upcoming week.  It's a great way to see what others are reading and add to your own To Be Read List.

I am almost complete with the decorating, love the smell of a real Christmas tree, definitely starting to feel like Christmas.  This has been a sad and weird year globally with the politics and violence but I am trying to remain grateful and fulfill my life with happiness.

I'm currently reading

I think this will be my Christmas read.  What is one of your favourites and what have you chose this year?

Book Summary

Becca Fletcher has always hated Christmas but she has her reasons for being Little Miss Grinch. Now, though, she can’t avoid her version of ho-ho-hell – because she’s travelling to the Comfort Food Cafe to spend the festive season with her sister Laura and her family. She’s expecting mulled wine, 24-hour Christmas movie marathons and all kinds of very merry torture.
Little does Becca know that the Comfort Food Cafe is like no other place on earth. Perched on a snow-covered hill, it’s a place full of friendship where broken hearts can heal, new love can blossom and where Becca’s Christmas miracle really could happen – if only she can let it…

My Christmas Eve recommendation is..... I loved it.

I reviewed - it was entertaining.  My Review

I am unsure what last 2 - 3 books to read for the year.  Recommend a must read please, what is the book you wanted everyone to read this year?

Have a great week.

  1. I do like the look of While You Were Sleeping and Behind Closed Doors, I love a good thriller.

Enjoy the Agatha Christie novel too. I was introduced to Christie's writing a couple of years ago and I found I enjoyed her wirting. I hope to get to more of her books soon.

    Have a lovely week,

  2. I am in the mood for lighter stuff so I've been reading Jenny Colgan's novels. Christmas at the Comfort Food Cafe sounds perfect.

The book I've been telling everyone to read this year is Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult. Definitely not light reading but a thought provoking story.

  4. While You Were Sleeping sounds great. I've seen a few bloggers reading it and I hope to read some reviews. I've been reading more thrillers this year and that one looks good!

Let's see, I thought City of the Lost by Kelley Armstrong was pretty good. And The girls in the Garden by Lisa Jewell or the Blue by Lucy Clarke.

  8. Cute Christmas book. I have never been a reader of Christmas books, but this one looks cute.

I will be interested to see your review on Behind Closed Doors. I read a book with the same title but a different author. Wonder if they are the similar?

I left a comment on your comment on my blog to try Pam Jenoff's books. I suggested starting out with The Kommandant's Girl.

Thanks for stopping by my blog...ENJOY your reading week.

  9. Good question. I'm not sure what book I've read this year that I'd push on people. Now I'll have to think about it.

  10. I think adding the decorative touches to your house definitely help to get you in the Christmas spirit - we did just this on the weekend.

I love the look of your Christmas read; it looks perfect for this time of year. A book doesn't spring to mind to recommend - I think I have too many titles in my head as I'm trying to process favourites of the year still! Happy reading!

  14. I miss a real tree. Love the smell, hate the mess. I agree with Greg, City of the Lost was excellent. I've got to narrow down what my first book of the new year is going to be.

    1. Thanks Nise, I have downloaded a sample of City of the Lost. I agree on the mess but the smell is divine. Wooden floors instead of carpet also help with the mess.

  16. The Christmas cafe book sounds cute. I'm leaning toward light books for the end of the year. I've been re-reading the Harry Potter series and the Christmas scenes in those books are my favorite!

I second Tana French as an author to try. Her newest wasn't my favorite of hers, but her novels are consistently good, IMHO. One of my favorite reads of the year was LITTLE BLACK LIES by Sharon Bolton. Have you read it? It's a great psychological thriller that kept me guessing until the very last sentence. Seriously!
